Isle of Man, Wales, Guernsey & England from $2,975 Per Person -
11 Days / 10 Nights / 14 Meals / 5 Private Guided Tours
Journey through history, beauty and mystery as you embark on this 11-Day/10-Night adventure into some of the globes finest offerings while visiting four countries in the process.
Your journey begins on the Isle of Man, The Jewel of the Irish Sea. Sir John Betjeman once called it, “The Naples of the North” adding it “has such wilderness and such sophistication, such oldness and such newness. The Isle of Man is simply magical, an enchanted journey back in time that somehow feels modern.”
There is an irony to the fact that the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, yet it is the only location in the British Isles from which you can see all of the United Kingdom’s constituent parts – on clear days, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are visible from the 2,037 foot Snaefell Mountain, reached via the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
The Isle of Man’s rich history, dating back to 8,000 B.C., echoes through the ages. There is archaeological evidence suggesting that the colonization of the island by sea took place sometime before 6,500 B.C. The MANX culture has a strong appeal in the form of myths and legends, language and Viking and Celtic origins.
Although this is not a “rock ‘n’ roll” themed trip, you might be interested to know that the Isle of Man is also the birthplace and childhood home of The Bee Gees.
Next, you will enjoy a voyage east across the Irish Sea for a day in Liverpool before moving on to Llandudno, Wales. While in Liverpool, check off the Bucket List your desire to drop in on the Land of the Beatle’s visiting the homeland of their commencement to stardom.
After a full-day in Liverpool, you will be escorted to your beautiful hotel in Llandudno, Wales. The Victorians and Edwardians loved to visit Llandudno – they called it the Queen of the Welsh Resorts, and graced it with some of the most elegant seaside architecture in Britain. You can delve further into the past at their 4,000 year old copper mine or the medieval castle at Conwy.
Outdoor lover, thrill seeker, festivalgoer or heritage buff – or just wanting to discover a new passion? Wales has you covered. Wales is a country in southwest Great Britain known for its rugged coastline, mountainous national parks, distinctive Welsh language and Celtic culture. In the northwest, Snowdonia National Park has lakes, glacial landforms, hiking trails and a railway up to the peak of Snowdon.
It’s now onto Guernsey via a flight from Manchester. At just 25 square miles, Guernsey may be small, but it is mighty. A patchwork of green fields and golden beaches, rocky outcrops and characterful buildings, the north is low-lying, surrounded by wide sandy beaches, while the rural parishes cocoon rolling fields pierced with church spires.
To the south, cliffs drop away leaving rugged, breath-taking vistas. The Island has a unique history, award-winning beaches and a capital considered one of the most picturesque in Europe.
This little Island has inspired a big blockbuster – and you could visit the very place where the idea was born. Guernsey was the inspiration behind the international best seller, and subsequent film, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”. The novel was penned by Mary Ann Shaffer and completed by her niece, Annie Barrows, and tells the Island’s story under the German Occupation of World War 2. While the novel is a work of fiction, the story is based on actual events.
From its great shipbuilding past to the German Occupation of WW2, the only British land to be seized during the War; its dolmens and ancient forts to a Neolithic burial mound thought to be the oldest man-made structure in Europe; Guernsey is as rich as it is diverse when it comes to its past.
Last, but certainly not least, you’ll depart beautiful Guernsey to spend the remainder of your amazing adventure in London. London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its center stands the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.
During your one full day in London, you will be escorted by a private guide to see and experience the greatest sites the wonderful city has to offer before departing home the following day.
